I have been doing my Practicum at Fountain headstart/daycare program for the last two weeks I have really loved getting to know the children and seeing what their interest are. During our outside time we always ended up playing Pirates on the playground the program has telescopes and we use them to look out into the oceans at the sharks and the island is where their are treasures
So, ive decided to bring in books to read about pirates and i also made a box of loose material to put into a treasure with shells and beads and diamonds for the children to hope to engage.
When we would play outside on the playground we talk about sharks swimming in the ocean and as well on the ground around the pirate ship has lava and we need to stay off the lava so we dont sink.

One area of play is using the blocks creating different scenes of building bridges and car lots with car washes stations and farm set up areas where the children were very active in play. I belive this is where I was really impacted in choosing my committment of empathy in assissting children with the guiding of sharing and caring, and using their communications skills. For example Myself V.E. and F.S. and F.S. felt that F.S. that gonna come over and knock V.E. Bridge over, And V.E. told F.S. “No thank you” , and I told V.E. to use his words and ask F.S. not to touch his play area as to he was building a bridge.

I was using body art as a way of connection with the children and they were very interested in the art and we brought out the papers for the children to colour or add items if they wanted. I then communicated with one of the mentors and she was telling me that she was surprised the F.S. didnt paint his body cause he generally loves colouring so i put this idea aside and we will see if we will come back to it another day.
